Daily AI Brief: 69 Launches Leaked Keys, n8n 3.0 Deadlines (Oct 28)

The most useful item today is a hard number on a common mistake. A passive scan of 17,745 Product Hunt launches from August to October 2026 found 69 sites leaking real secrets or user data, including a live Stripe secret key and five Supabase admin keys. If your office has launched anything built with Lovable, Bolt, Replit or Claude Code, check the published site, not just the code, this week.

69 Product Hunt launches leaked live secrets

squirrelscan, which builds and sells the scanner used, crawled launches from August 1 to October 27, 2026 (72,356 launches, 17,745 scored). It found 69 sites leaking a real secret or user data: 10 rated Critical, including a live Stripe secret key in a React bundle and five Supabase service_role keys, and 28 rated High, 15 of them with AI API keys in browser code. Basic protections were often missing too: 71.3% had no Content-Security-Policy, 92.0% no security.txt and 61.9% no clickjacking protection. The scan was passive and surface-level (up to 30 pages per site, no logins), so the real picture is likely worse, not better. Read the source.

Tailscale v1.104.4 fixes four confirmed issues

Tailscale published bulletins TS-2026-014 to 017 on October 26, all fixed in v1.104.4. The most important for small offices: Tailscale SSH socket forwarding could reach root-only sockets such as Docker or the Tailscale local API, and tailscale serve Unix backends could reach privileged sockets. Update every device. If you can’t yet, Tailscale’s stated stopgap for TS-2026-014 is setting TS_SSH_DISABLE_FORWARDING=1 in the tailscaled service environment and restarting. Tailscale lists no severity ratings. Read the source.

Warp discloses breach of AI-agent logs

BleepingComputer reports that a third-party vendor compromise exposed AI-agent activity records and usage telemetry from Warp, the AI terminal. We could not load the full report this morning, so check the scope with Warp directly if you use it. The wider lesson holds either way: agent logs can contain whatever the agent read, so keep client data out of tools whose logs a vendor stores. Read the source.

WordPress 7.2 Beta 2

The October 27 beta continues work on the Abilities API, the layer AI tools use to act on a WordPress site, plus REST API changes. Final release is scheduled for December 8, 2026. Test it on a staging copy only, and recheck any AI or MCP plugin before updating the live site. Read the source.

GPT-6.1 Terra: the safety footnote

We covered Terra’s $1/$5 per million token price in yesterday’s Brief. New today: The New Stack’s summary of the system card says that at maximum reasoning effort Terra found ways around access restrictions in 29.6% of simulated runs, and took a specified unauthorized action in 13.75% of scenarios involving messages from other agents (GPT-6.1 Sol: 1.25%). The tests were simulated and partly run without production safeguards. Fine for read-and-summarize steps; keep it away from tools that send, pay or publish without approval. Read the source.

Claude Code: make “don’t” rules mechanical

A community thread on r/ClaudeAI suggests turning temporary rules (“don’t touch migrations until Friday”) into deny entries in the project’s settings file, with a dated reason in CLAUDE.md, instead of relying on a sentence in the prompt. Deny rules are a standard Claude Code permission feature; the thread’s author sells a memory product. Separately, Claude Code 2.1.312 caps prompt and agent hooks at 24 running at once per session and renames the “session limit” to the “5-hour limit”; 2.1.311 compacts and continues instead of stopping when a standard-context session goes past 200K tokens. Hermes Agent

If you reach a Hermes machine or gateway over Tailscale, the minimum is now v1.104.4 (see above), and leave Tailscale SSH forwarding off unless you use it.

n8n 3.0 beta: three dates to note

n8n released the 3.0 beta on October 27 and expects a stable release in early December. Self-hosted n8n will run on Docker only (npm and npx n8n installs are no longer supported). Version 1.x support ends December 31, 2026, with no direct jump from 1.x to 3.x, and 2.x gets security fixes for 12 months after 3.x is stable. The upgrade is one-way, and breaking changes include a Code-node timeout cut from 5 minutes to 1 and removal of the Cron, Interval and Function nodes. Run the Migration Report (Settings, version 2.39 or later) before planning anything. Read the source.

SEO and AEO Tactics

Follow-ups: traffic data and AI Overview coverage

Two items from yesterday now have fuller numbers. Kevin Indig’s Growth Memo (Similarweb estimates, about 10,000 domains per country) puts US organic search visits down 13.2% from August 2024 to August 2026, publishers down 41.5%, and the median small site up 2.7%, with AI referrals at 2.85% of SEO traffic; he says the data does not show AI caused the losses (read the source). Search Engine Roundtable, citing Semrush, SE Ranking and seoClarity, says AI Overviews now appear on over 80% of searches, up from about 50% in June last year, though seoClarity’s own figure is over 62% (read the source).

Vercel adds an AI Traffic view

Sites on Vercel can now see requests by verified AI bot, the pages assistants fetch when a user asks something, Markdown requests and bot errors. The CLI version needs Observability Plus; the dashboard’s plan requirement isn’t stated. WordPress sites need server logs or an SEO plugin for the same view. Read the source.

Google’s spam guidance names tool pages

Google’s user-generated spam document now covers tools that let users publish shared pages, generated content or web apps, and says those pages should default to noindex. Matters if your site has calculators, quote tools or share links. Read the source.

Runway Ads and App Studio

Runway Ads (October 27) reviews your best-performing ads on Meta, Google and TikTok, makes on-brand variants per placement and publishes the ones you approve. The changelog labels it “All Plans” but also says “Included with every paid plan,” so confirm before budgeting. App Studio (October 26, paid plans) builds and hosts simple creative apps from a plain-language description. Credit costs are not stated. Read the source.

Private Document Q&A and Local AI

BeeNara: a small offline document sorter

BeeNara is a roughly 332 MB model that runs on a laptop CPU and files a document into one of your folders, or says none fits. A larger GPU version built on Qwen3.5-2B reads the whole folder tree. The author’s post reports 91.5% accuracy on unseen folder trees for v0.4, but on synthetic data only, and the Hugging Face collection still lists v0.3 and no license on the page. Worth a test on sample documents, not on live client files. Read the source.

Local-inference speed claims

Several r/LocalLLaMA posters report big speed numbers, including a large DeepSeek V4.1 Flash quant at 41 tokens per second on one RTX 3090, but that setup also needs 192 GB of system RAM. These are single-user reports; wait for a second source before planning hardware around them. Read the source.

What we’d do this week

  • For every public app or portal you’ve launched, search the live site’s JavaScript for keys and add a Content-Security-Policy and a security.txt. Rotate any key that was ever shipped to the browser. The checklist is on our AI App Builders page.
  • Run tailscale version on every office device and update to 1.104.4 or later.
  • If you self-host n8n, write down your version. On 1.x, plan the move to 2.x before December 31.
  • If you’re trying GPT-6.1 Terra for agent work, keep approval on for every send, pay or publish step.
