Daily AI Brief: Claude Plan Changes, Invoice Automation (Nov 1)

Anthropic has reshuffled its paid Claude plans. Max is now $100 a month, and Ultra, at $200, drops the 5-hour usage window for verified accounts. Both plans now include monthly API credits ($100 on Max, $200 on Ultra). For an office that runs Claude Code for hours at a time, that changes which plan makes sense and whether you need a separate API bill at all.

Claude plans: Max $100, Ultra $200, monthly API credits included

Claude’s pricing page now lists Max at $100 a month with “5x Pro usage every 5 hours and every week” and $100 a month in API credits, and Ultra at $200 a month with “No 5-hour limit” for verified accounts, “10x Pro usage every week” and $200 a month in API credits. The New Stack reports that Max 5x became Max and Max 20x became Ultra at the same prices, and that the weekly limit stays in place. Anthropic’s footnote limits the lifted 5-hour cap to verified accounts. Read the source (The New Stack).

GPT-6.1 Terra: OpenAI’s low-cost model

The New Stack ran three synthetic tests at max effort. Terra tied Claude Opus 5.5 on release triage, scored higher on cell lineage, and finished a CI audit that Opus did not finish. The author cites $1 / $5 per million input/output tokens for Terra against $4 / $20 for Opus 5.5, and estimates the runs at $25.99 vs $214.96 uncached. These are the author’s tests and estimates, not ours. Replit has added Terra to Agent’s Power Mode model selector. Read the source.

Claude Code 2.1.314 and 2.1.316: a hard folder boundary

Version 2.1.314 adds permissions.blockWritesOutsideWorkingDirectories: with it on, Write, Edit and NotebookEdit “refuse paths outside the working directories in every permission mode.” Version 2.1.316 adds CLAUDE_CODE_SUBAGENT_EFFORT and CLAUDE_CODE_DISABLE_ULTRATHINK, and deprecates fast mode for Opus 4.8 as of October 30. Fast mode on Opus 4.8 will be removed on November 30, after which those requests return an error. The changelog says to migrate to Opus 5.5. Read the source.

Replit Cloud Agents for company codebases

Replit Enterprise users can describe a change, and a Cloud Agent makes it and opens a GitHub pull request or GitLab merge request with screenshots and video. Separately, Agent can now send messages to other chats or create new ones (Pro and Enterprise). Enterprise pricing is not stated. Read the source.

n8n: Gmail PDF invoices to Google Sheets, with a math check

A free n8n template polls Gmail for unread mail labeled “invoices” with PDF attachments, has Gemini extract the invoice fields, and appends them to a Google Sheet. The useful part is the check before anything is saved: it compares subtotal plus tax against the total and flags low-confidence or incomplete results as needs_review. You need Gmail and Sheets OAuth credentials, a Gemini API key, and a sheet with an “Invoices” tab. Scanned image-only PDFs need an OCR step first. Read the source.

What ChatGPT Search actually looks up

Seer Interactive captured ChatGPT’s search activity across nine prompts on the free plan. Half the queries ChatGPT issued (12 of 24) included the word “official”, and in two of the conversations all 36 citations went to the brands’ own sites. In one case it quoted a business rate of $7.33 per user per month and told the user to ignore a $2.99 plan, while that $2.99 page was still live. The practical lesson is to make your own service and pricing pages clear and current, because those are the pages AI search goes looking for. Read the source.

Shared AI-training opt-out: Microsoft adds dates

Following yesterday’s news, Search Engine Journal reports that Microsoft will begin honoring the new robots.txt training option on February 1, 2027, will add a page-level “AI Grounding” preference, and opens a temporary Bing Webmaster Tools setting on December 15 for sites still using its older NoArchive/NoCache tags. OpenAI aims to honor the signal “in the next few months”. Google aims for 2027. None of them supports it yet. Read the source.

Google Connected Apps Platform (preview)

Google opened a preview that lets developers bring apps into Gemini and Search through a cloud-hosted MCP server or Android AppFunctions, registered through the Google Connected Console. Access opens in phases, and Google says more than 50 Connected Apps are live. If you have built an MCP server, this is a route into Google’s AI surfaces. Read the source.

A week of AI-tooling security incidents

BleepingComputer reported three incidents: a malicious Claude Code extension listed on Cursor’s extension marketplace that planted SSH backdoors, a Northflank breach that led to abuse of customers’ AI API keys, and a Chainalysis data breach the company attributes to “offensive agentic techniques”. We could not load the article bodies to confirm the remediation details. The basic hygiene still applies: install extensions only from the publisher’s verified listing, and rotate any AI keys stored with a provider that reports a breach. Read the source.

Gemini edits entire Slides decks; Sheets adds citations

As covered yesterday, Gemini in Slides can now edit many slides or a whole deck from one prompt, with undo and version history to revert. It is English only at launch, for Business Standard/Plus, Enterprise Standard/Plus, Google AI Pro/Ultra and AI Pro for Education, with promotional higher limits through at least December 1. New in the weekly recap: “Fill with Gemini” in Sheets now shows the web source behind each AI-generated cell. Read the source.

HeyGen API: old Studio Template fields removed

HeyGen’s changelog says the avatar_look_id, character_id and character_type names on character variables, and the older scenes field on the template endpoint, were removed on October 31. Use avatar_id and composition.scenes instead. The same month added text- and image-to-video up to 30 seconds, 1080p and 2K output, and a lower-latency HeyGen Voice 1 Turbo model. Read the source.

Local AI Hardware

64 GB Macs as a tier for local coding agents

One r/LocalLLaMA user reports running Qwen3.8-27B in LM Studio on a 64 GB M4 Max with a 256k context window for long agent sessions, using about 48 GB at 164k tokens. The catch is that a prompt-cache miss forces a very long reprocess. This is a single community report, not a benchmark, but it shows that context length now costs about as much memory as the model itself. Read the source.

Hermes Agent

Smart Approval approved a destructive delete

An r/hermesagent user reports that Hermes Agent’s Smart Approval mode, where a reviewing model can approve flagged commands, approved a buggy Windows cleanup command that deleted a large number of files. Other users point to the documented Docker options: run Hermes inside a container, with its data in a mounted /opt/data folder, or use Docker as the terminal backend so every command runs in a sandbox. This is a user report, not confirmed by Nous Research. Read the source.

What we’d do this week

  • If you pay for Claude, log your weekly usage percentage for seven days before choosing between Pro, Max and Ultra, and check whether the included API credits could replace a separate API bill.
  • Turn on blockWritesOutsideWorkingDirectories in any Claude Code project that runs without someone watching, and remove Opus 4.8 fast mode settings before November 30.
  • Read your own pricing and service pages the way ChatGPT would: is the current price stated plainly on the official page, and are outdated plan pages still live?
  • Audit editor extensions on every machine that runs AI coding tools, and rotate any AI API keys stored with a provider that has reported a breach.
